Description

The GEARit 16 AWG 4-Conductor In-Wall Speaker Wire is pure oxygen-free copper 16/4 cable with a CL2-rated jacket for safe in-wall and in-ceiling installation. Four color-coded conductors make it the right choice for bi-wiring and bi-amping, running two speakers from one cable, and whole-home audio and volume control wiring.

Features

  • CL2 rated for in-wall installation: Meets fire safety requirements for runs inside walls and ceilings.
  • 99.9% oxygen-free copper: Lower resistance than CCA wire for clear, detailed sound and better corrosion resistance.
  • 4 color-coded conductors: Clear polarity identification for bi-wire, bi-amp and multi-speaker installs.
  • Sequential foot markings: Printed at 1 ft intervals so you can measure and cut accurately without a tape.
  • Flexible PVC jacket: Pulls easily through walls and ceilings while protecting the conductors.
  • Spool packaging: Easy dispensing, measuring and storage.

Why 4-Conductor?
Four-conductor wire carries two separate signal pairs in one jacket. Deliver the optimal amount of wattage to your home audio components begins by deciding the correct speaker wire conductor size. 4-conductor speaker wire is applied differently than 2-conductor speaker wire. Use it to:

  • Bi-wire: Send separate runs to the high and low frequency terminals on speakers with dual binding posts. One for positive and negative like regular wires.
  • Bi-amp: Drive the high and low sections of a speaker from separate amplifier channels. 4-conductor speaker wire has a higher threshold for power compared to 2-conductor speaker wire, which means less cross talk.
  • Run two speakers: Feed a pair of in-ceiling or multi-room speakers from a single cable pull. 4-conductor speaker wire works when connecting a pair of speakers with one pair of connection if need be. It is also useful when running power from a receiver to a volume control. When doubled up, 4-conductor speaker wire has a higher effective gauge, which increases power delivery.
  • Wire volume controls: Run from the receiver to an in-wall volume control and on to the speakers.

Not sure about gauge? Two questions decide it.

How long is the run and how much power the amp pushes. Use the picker, then choose the conductor.

FAQ

Speaker wire questions, answered.

How do I choose the right length?

Measure the path the wire will actually follow, around furniture, along baseboards or through walls, then add 10–15% for slack. If you're between two lengths, go longer.

What gauge speaker wire do I need?

Under 50 ft, 16 AWG is fine. For 50–100 ft or higher-power amps, step up to 14 AWG. For runs over 100 ft or subwoofers, use 12 AWG. In-wall installs need a CL2 or CL3 jacket.

Can I run this speaker wire in walls?

Wire rated CL2 or CL3 is made for in-wall and in-ceiling installation. Check the rating in the specs above and on the jacket.

Is OFC better than CCA?

Oxygen-free copper has lower resistance than copper-clad aluminum, which matters most on long runs and at higher power. CCA is a budget option for short indoor runs.

Do I need banana plugs?

No. Bare wire works on any speaker terminal. Banana plugs make swaps faster and prevent fraying.
